Rory's Story

My journey into the world of hospitality started many years ago as a barman at a small family owned restaurant in Cape Town. The aromas from the kitchen and the excitement of the resident chef ignited my love for food and the cheffing bug took hold.

Realising that the best experience to be gained would be in London, I packed my apron and knife set, embarking on a journey that would see me training and learning under acclaimed chefs like Rowley Leigh and Mark Sargeant at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Claridge’s Hotel.

Upon my return to South Africa, I continued my culinary journey with appointments at Rijk’s Country House in Tulbagh, Constantia Uitsig’s River Cafe and Cape Point Vineyards.

After years of working in restaurants, the idea of cooking for clients on a personal level, making the food they love was more appealing and here I am, your next private chef.

Any celebration – weddings, anniversaries, birthday bashes – we’ve got you covered. We’ll discuss your menu options and any other additional  hiring of equipment, bar or staffing requirements.

RESTAURANT CONSULTING

With more that 20 years of restaurant experience, locally and abroad, I’ll assist in setting up your restaurant and guide you through those business breaking pitfalls, including menu planning, food costing and supplier management and staff training.
